The Translator- Questions

Question 1: What does Dauod mean when he says "It helps many people just to have someone listen and write thier story down; if thier suffering is noted somewhere, by someone, anyone, then they can more easily let loose of it because they know where it is?" Can you relate to this statment? Explain.

Response:
I feel like what Dauod means when he says this is that when someone feels bad if they tell someone they feel better.  That if something was eating at you inside, you have to let it out. If you tell anyone, one more person knows and you don't have to carry it yourself. I can relate to this because when I feel bad and I tell someone I feel better.

Question 2- Part 1 : When Daoud is describing the differences bewteen NGO workers and journalists he says, " The reporters were so different from the NGO workers. They didn't care about paperwork or legalities of borders. They just wanted to write stories that would help people. They also drank (alcohol) alot." Why do you think the journalsits drink alot?
Response: I think that they drink alot to forget thier problems. Because of all the problems they hear can really have a affect on them. Making them feel sad and lonely for them. So drinking alcohol makes them feel numb and a way to pass the time.

Question 2- Part 2 : When describing why he went and bought some beer for Lori and megan, Daoud says: "You have to find a way to laugh a little bit each day despite everything, or your heart will simply run out of joy that makes it go."

Response: I think this qoute means that you have to look on the postive side of life, or you just will always be sad. You have to see the glass half full. My prediction was kinda of right with why they drink alchol to feel  numb.

Question 3:  when describing the captured attackers in the village Daoud refers to the boys age (14yearsold) THREE times in two paragraphs- why do you think he does this?

Response: I think he does that because they are SO young. Fourteen year old teens should not be in war. I think he really wanted to stress the fact.

Friendship - descriptive introduction

Sight: Six friends holding hands and jumping into the air.
Smell: A summers day with fresh flowers.
Touch: Touching each others hands.
Sound: Their feet hitting the land as they hit the earth under their feet.
Taste: The air in their lungs.
Feelings: Grateful for having such wonder fill friends.

Every one has friends. Friends to laugh with, friends to talk with, friends to hang out with and do nothing at all.
We meet our friends at school, in our neighbourhood, at the mall, at a sport or by other friends. Our friends share our similar interests, hobbies, passions, favourite sports and so on. We tell the world a little bit about ourselves simply based on the type of friends we have. Our friends can be loud, quiet, outgoing, shy, athletic, popular, not so popular, funny, rude, artistic and most of the time they have many different unique qualities.
Having friends is so important to everyone no matter what your age, race, social status, WHATEVER. We hang out with our friends, tell our secrets to our friends, gossip with our friends, laugh with our friends, shop with our friends and by doing all these we make memories with our friends. Not all friendships last forever.
Sometimes we are only friends with them for a short amount of time, just because they were not the right friends for us. Sometimes friendships last longer, a couple of years, but not forever. Then there are the friends that walk into our life and leave footprints on our heart. Friends that will stick by our sides no matter what happens in our life. Nothing whether it is a fight, a death, a love, a different opinion, NO MATTER WHAT they will be our friends forever until the day we die.

*The intended mood for this blog post was to make the reader think about their friends and really appreciate them.

Re - Occuring Dream: Grandpas Secret Passage!

One dream that I have had for years is a re-occuring dream with my grandpa. The dream starts out with me in my grandparents basement, in the storage/freezer area, with me looking at my grandpa. He doesn't know I am there looking at him. He is moving things over the floor until the bare floor is showing. On the floor is a latch that is the colour of the floor, so it is very hard to see. He opens it and I look into it and fall down into it. It is kinda like a Alice in wonderland when she falls down the rabbit hole or in Harry Potter chamber of secrets type thing. It is dark, with sponge walls, no windows and a trampoline for the floor I look around at the room and then the dream ends.

The dreams details sometimes change, like there are children and some of my friends in the room. Sometimes my grandpa isn't there or he comes down with me. Sometimes I stay down there longer, I have even got as far as going to a door that leads into another room but I have never made it far enough to open it.

I'm not sure if the dream means something or not. I first thought it means my grandparents have a secret passage and I checked their basement many times, but alas nothing. Every time I have this dream I want to check agian their basement agian because it is so realistic.

This dream is my only re-occuring dream I have ever had, and I have it about once a couple of months. I don't think I have it when I am feeling any certain emotion, but it sure is a weird dream.

Keep Sake Items

Favourite Memory

A favourite memory of mine is when I went to Hawaii. I went the winter of grade five, with my grandparents. We left early in the morning and arrivied late at night. When we got to our hotel, we put all our stuff away and went to Baskin Robins. Even though it was late out, tons of people were out.
The next day my grandparents and I went out for breakfast. I had delicous pancakes, bacon and toast. After we ate we went to the ocean and spent the whole day swimming. For dinner we went to subway, and continued to eat Subway every day, for the next ten days, I didn't eat Subway again for other two years! Haha.
Over the rest of the trip we went swimming in the ocean, suntanning, sight seeing, learning how to make lays, taking hula lessons, eating subway and buying mumu's! When the trip was over I was sad, but it was the best vaction I ever took in my life :D An object I would use to represent this is my pink hellokitty shirt that says Hawiaa that I got there.

Something Important - Puppy!

One thing that is very important to me is my puppy Baron. He doesn't really look like a puppy though (he is 130 pounds). He is a chocolate lab mixeded with rotweyler. We got him when I was in kindergarden and he has been with us ever since. He is very friendly and loves to give people kisses. Sometimes it can be kind of gross though! haha. He is very protective of my family and loves to bark. To someone that doesn't know him he can be scary, but over all he is a kind dog. He likes to have long walks and runs. He likes to eat and would eat himself to death, literaly! He is the best dog ever and I love him! :D Btw the picture is not him, just one from google but it looks JUST LIKE him!

Hopes And Dreams - Europe!

One of my dreams is to go to Europe. I wan't to travel all of Europe, but mostly Paris. I think Paris is so beautiful. With all of lights and I would love to see the Eiffel Tower. If I ever went to paris, I would first go shopping! I would go to see all of the shops and walk around. After I was done shopping, I would go to a cafe. I would order something that I couldn't eat in Canada. After I was finished I would walk all the rest of the day. At the end of the day I would go to the Effifel Tower, I think it would be so pretty to see all the lights in the night, they would really stand out. I could stay there all night just looking at it. Some other things I would do in paris, is go on boats, take lots of pictures and of course practise my french! An object I would use to represent this is a neckless that I got here that says 'Paris'.
